Ashley Ponsonby was, from 1980 to 1996, Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, representing the Queen in the County. During this time, he was additionally President, Vice-President, Patron or Trustee of numerous Oxfordshire organisations, including the Radcliffe Medical Foundation. Until early 1981 he was a Managing Director of the international investment bank J Henry Schroder Wagg & Co Ltd, where he was concerned primarily with managing investments and fundraising for industry.
